Throwback Thursday: Banana Seat Bicycles

In 1963, Schwinn designer Al Fritz spruced up a simple bike with long, padded seats and high-rise handlebars, giving it a look that resembled a “chopper” motorcycle. The “Sting Ray” design was an instant hit, the long seat allowing for more than one rider, and remained popular throughout the 60s and into the 70s.
