Summer Top Travel Destinations

TripAdvisor (the world’s largest travel site) just recently posted their results for their annual summer travel survey. Comprised of 2,500 respondents, 89% are planning a summer vacation. We have the winter to thank for these numbers, people chomping at the bit to get away on a nice, long, warm vacation. The survey also compiled a top 10 list of destinations people said they would like to go. So, where are they headed?

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina – This gem of a beach town is a guarantee for excitement, and all the golf you can imagine. From the East Coast’s only 200-foot SkyWheel to mini golf to the beach itself, Myrtle Beach has plenty for you to do.

Las Vegas, Nevada – What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. But that doesn’t mean we can’t tell you what there is to do! Try your luck at a casino, catch an amazing show (Love by Cirque de Soleil, perhaps?), or swim with the sharks at the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay. There’s also “the other Las Vegas,” the natural part of this city that is definitely worth exploring, too.

New York City, New York – Regardless of the winter, people are still willing to flock to the Big Apple for vacation. It’s hard to say no to this enticing city, with its fashion, theatre, dining, and other intriguing aspects. It’s New York City. Just being able to say you were in Times Square is pretty exciting.

Ocean City, Maryland – If you want to spend time near the water a little farther north, Ocean City is the place to go. It stretches along 10 miles of beautiful beach, and the classic wooden boardwalk offers 3 miles of food, games, and shopping. You could easily spend the entire day soaking up the sun here.

Destin, Florida – This Florida gem is known for its sugar-white sands and emerald colored waters. It’s also known as “the world’s luckiest fishing village”, for its abundance of underwater inhabitants. The recently opened Northwest Florida Regional airport makes this summer vacay destination easy to get to! Even taking a boat out is easy, thanks to the 100 Fathom curve providing deep water access to the Gulf.

 

Orlando, Florida – It’s probably no surprise that this city made the list. Known widely for its enchanting theme parks—Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld—it’s a popular spot for vacation. It’s all-season golf, shopping, and world-class resorts only make this destination even more appealing.
