fishy-fishy-cafe-southport-nc-restaurants-seafoodThere’s nothing better than a great meal, right? Whether you’re searching for breakfast, lunch, dinner or happy hour, try Southport NC’s best restaurants for some divine dining. St. James Plantation residents aren’t going hungry in their hometown, that’s for sure!

Check out some of our residents’ go-to spots for grabbing a bite. When you’re down for a visit, be sure to add a few of these places to your list – just be sure to tell them the locals sent you!

For Great Grub, Try:

Taylor’s Cuisine offers great service and a unique menu. For breakfast, try the sweet potato waffles or the purple pancakes!”

“Try Castaways Keys for the breakfast deal of the century. Where else can you get two eggs, toast and home fries for $2.99?! And, Port City Java has the best coffee you’ll find anywhere.”

“For variety at lunch or dinner, we enjoy going to The Provision Company for their crab cakes, tuna on salad, or their grouper sandwich. For dessert — their delicious key lime pie and/or ice cream next door at Flavas!”

“I often refer to Southport as a cross between Mayberry and Key West. The “Key West” side is best exhibited by Fishy Fishy. We love the laid back atmosphere, the colors of the walls and furnishings and, of course, the water view! There is often live music which adds to the atmosphere. To me this is “Southport”.

Fishy Fishy Cafe

The food is excellent quality…from soup (love the red pepper) to salads, sandwiches and Sunday brunch….all very unique. Hmmmm, now we’re hungry so it’s off to Baked with Love we go!”

“I love Dry Street for their great gourmet pizzas , fresh sandwiches, and home-made soup.”

And, Even More Favorites….

“For dinner, try Live Oak Cafe for an interesting menu and good food.”

Loco Jo’s is perfect for great beers and excellent fish tacos. The menu is full of interesting menu items, some with a Vietnamese accent.”

“The food is great at Yacht Basin Eatery and we like being able to dine outside even in the winter!”

“For lunch, try The Trolly Stop. They have great hot dogs and you can carry them out and walk to Riverside Park and eat at a picnic table.”

“We enjoy Ports of Call for lunch and dinner. We get to sit at the same table that Julianne Hough and Josh Duhamel dined at in the movie “Safe Haven”!”

Ports of Call Bistro

“Another favorite is Thai By The Sea. You’ve gotta try their Thai Dumplings! The nice thing is their delicious lunch or dinner options can be ordered with all degrees of spice.”

The Dead End Saloon is a great for casual seafood and maybe some of the best views (and atmosphere) in town.”

“We also like Mr. P’s Bistro, The Pharmacy, Island Way and Joseph’s (very romantic) for exceptional dining paired with consistent and professional service. The menus are excellent, too.”

For A Cocktail, Try:

“We are not down there full time (yet) but when we go out we like the Irish pub, Slainte, for a relaxing spot to have a couple of drinks.”

“You mean after a day of golfing and relaxing? Nothing beats pulling up a stool (or two) at Tommy’s Tiki Bar.”

Old American Fish Co. is the place to go for the best view and cocktails. It’s a little piece of the Carribean in Southport.”
