New England is an enormously popular place to live with Delaware being one of the chicest. Delaware is known as The First State, showing significance to our country’s beginning. Even the slogan Blue Hen State is historical with origins around cockfighting during the Revolutionary War in the late 1700s. People love Delaware today because they have no sales tax when shopping and they offer state income tax exclusions from retirement incomes like IRA’s, pensions, and 401(k). Exclusions can be for up to $12,500 and the standard deduction for seniors is $2,500.

There are many luxury shopping malls as well as Tanger Outlets. And don’t forget the huge flea markets for those that enjoy saving money. Coastal Delaware is the dream city for travelers. Take an easy trip to Philadelphia or Baltimore which is less than two hours away. Additionally, New York City’s Penn Station is less than two hours away by high-speed train. You are only 100 miles from Washington, D.C. Living in Delaware means no shortage of adventurous activities.

Explore our Coastal Communities

Delaware is a nature lover’s paradise, full of hiking trails, nature preserves, and state parks. The best places include Cape Henlopen State Park, Coverdale Farm Preserve, Dupont Nature Center, and Swamp Forest Trail. There is also a Tri-state Bird Rescue and a no kill shelter Faithful Friends Animal Society. If car racing, NASCAR or Indy Racing is your thing, you will love the Dover International Speedway which hosts several races a year! Not to mention the Harrington Raceway and Casino. Coastal Delaware is the place to be if you love attending festivals.

There are festivals and events all year long. These include the Chocolate Festival, Autumn Rehoboth Jazz Festival, New Castle County Ice Cream Festival, and Sea Witch Festival. You will definitely find a festival that you adore and supporting local vendors is good for the local economy. Catch a concert or free summer entertainment at the Rehoboth Beach Bandstand. Everyone can relax with some chill tunes and a cold drink.
