Del Webb Fitness Centers: Get Fit!

Del Webb Fitness Centers - Del Webb Retirement Communities - Health and Fitness - Running - ResolutionsIt’s that time of year when we make resolutions to do better, be better, and try harder in the upcoming year. Whether your goal is to get in shape or stay in shape, whether you want to give up something in your diet or eat better in general, there is definitely a motivating power that comes with starting a new year.

Known for their state-of-the-art fitness centers, Del Webb communities are wonderful places to get in shape or stay in shape. They promote fitness for the 50+ community with sophisticated machinery and weight systems, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, and an indoor track. After working out, residents can soothe their muscles in the spa or even get a massage. In addition, there are personal trainers at some of the Del Webb community fitness centers. These personal trainers offer up their expertise to help residents through organized fitness routines in order to meet and maintain their goals.

There are many Del Webb Communities across the country, in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Texas. Each community has its own unique flavor and its own unique take on fitness. At Del Webb Charleston, residents enjoy heated indoor and outdoor pools as well as tennis, bocce, and pickball courts. Sweetwater by Del Webb, located in Jacksonville, Florida, enjoys the Summerland Hall amenities center, a 22,000 square foot clubhouse. At Sun City Peachtree in Griffin, Geogia, residents can experience the full amenties that come with a 45,000 square foot center. The center includes a walking track as well as a tennis complex, fitness center, pools, and ballroom. In Frisco, Texas, you’ll find Frisco Lakes community with its fitness center and indoor track, as well as a heated lap pool.

If you’re over 50 and haven’t developed a fitness routine yet, it is not too late to start. Every fitness routine should include the following: aerobic exercise, strength training, and stretching. Aerobic exercise can be as vigorous as running or jogging, but can also include walking, swimming, or dance exercises. Try to work up to at least 20 or more minutes three to four days a week.

If you are there already, that’s great! Continue to maintain your aerobic workout, but consider adding weight lifting to it. This will improve your strength and posture, as well as decrease the risk of back injuries. You’ll want to start with a hand weight that you can comfortably handle, working your way up to completing at least twelve reps at a time.

Finally, if you haven’t added in stretching to your routine yet, think about taking up something like yoga or pilates, both of which build core strength and increase stability.

It’s never to late to get fit. This new year, take the opportunity to change your life and develop a fitness routine. Or, if you already have one, pledge to keep at it or go further with it. You won’t regret it and your body will thank you in the years to come.
