Inner Banks and Marina Living

CommunityBlog_ArlingtonPlaceSunsetIf you have a boat (or want one), then you’re going to need a marina to go with it. Fortunately, living on or near the Inner Banks can help with that.

On the other side of the Outer Banks is a body of water known as the Pamlico Sound. It’s the largest lagoon on the East Coast of the US, fed by the Neuse and Pamlico rivers. The sound mirrors the unspoiled beauty found on the Outer Banks beaches, but on the “sound side”, things are a little different. For those who love boating and life near the water in general, the Pamlico Sound and the quaint towns surrounding it is the perfect place to come and stay a while.

Minnesott Beach is a town near the sound, nestled on the Neuse River, and home to Arlington Place. The community is rich with Native American history, settled on the site of an old Indian settlement, one that is thought to be one of the largest trading centers in the South Atlantic states. A gated, waterfront community with an abundance of great amenities—particularly golfing and sailing—make this community impeccable. But for the avid boater, the planned boating amenities are what will catch your attention. Plans include a tackle store, boat ramp, day docks, fuel dock, and a decorated harbormaster. This full service riverfront marina will have plenty of dedicated slips—and the best part, deepwater access to the Intracoastal Waterway.

Also located on the Neuse River is the historic town of New Bern, North Carolina’s first capital and the location of Carolina Colours. It’s also the birthplace of Pepsi. Fun facts aside, it’s a town visitors flock to for all kinds of adventure, whether it’s historical, cultural or on the water. Once being a major port of call, boating today is majority recreational. And as far as marinas go, New Bern itself is packed full of them, so there won’t be any problems getting out on the water.

Hatteras_Lighthouse1Between the enchanting towns of Elizabeth City, NC, and Edenton, NC, is another boating paradise: Albemarle Plantation. Located in historic Hertford, (NC’s 7th oldest town) you’ve got tons of history to discover here. Beautiful Victorian and Georgian homes set the picture here, and so does the water. It’s a place where water reigns supreme, and can be right outside your door. And the marina… At the mouth of the Yeopim Creek, this 166 slip, full-service, deep water marina is one of the largest private boat basins on the Eastern Seaboard.

On the southern banks Pamlico River in Chocowinity, NC, is Cypress Landing, another enchanting community that can offer a place for you and your boat. Surrounded by some of NC’s greatest—Washington, NC; Outer Banks lighthouses, Greenville and ECU—you’ll always have something to do. And for your boat, a North Carolina Certified Clean Marina; a 222 slip modern protected marina close to the Outer Banks and the Intracoastal Waterway.

The Sound and the towns and communities nearby offer a great destination for you and your boating needs. The Sound itself goes to 15 feet, and with marinas having access to bigger waters at the Outer Banks and the Intracoastal Waterway, it’s a boater’s dream come true.
