Skype for Seniors: A guide to connecting with family & friends for FREE

SkypeIf you’ve heard of Skype, but don’t know what it is or how to use it, READ THIS ARTICLE. Staying in touch with relatives and friends has never been more fun, easier or cheaper. If you have children or grandchildren that live out of town, it’s fun to see their faces when you talk with them—see the surroundings, children playing and see multiple people all at one time.

Skype is a free application that allows you to make free video or audio calls to anyone in the world who has a Skype account. All you need is a web cam, a computer and an internet connection. You can even make video calls via Skype from your smart phone or iPad with a camera, if you have one.

Simply follow these five steps:

Step One
Go to skype.com from your internet browser, then click on ‘Join Skype.’ You’ll need to fill out some brief information.

Step Two
Download Skype to your computer. Follow the simple-to-use instructions to download. Click ‘Get Skype’ from the navigation bar, and choose your operating system to download.

SkypeStep Three
Find people with Skype accounts that you’d like to talk to. In the search field, enter the person’s name or email address to find your friends. Add contacts to your address book that you regularly contact.

Step Four
Click your contact and choose a video call or an audio call.

Step Five
Talk and see your family and friends as often as you’d like for free.
