The Lakewood Ranch Lifestyle

Lakewood Ranch, FL, is a beautiful destination for many reasons. This masterplanned community sits on 17,500 acres on Florida’s Gulf Coast, near the beaches of Sarasota. While the sun and the sand might be calling your name at first, you’ll find that the beach is not the only alluring part of this area.

Sandhill CraneLakewood Ranch is outdoorsy. It has been designated as the largest green-certified community in the US, taking care since 2005 to use building products and techniques that are healthier, more energy-efficient, and environmentally friendly in all their villages. They are proud to say that every home meets the Florida Green Building Coalition’s Green Home Standard—and that’s a very appealing characteristic. Half of the land in the community is set aside as open and recreational space. Pack a picnic lunch and spend the day in one of the community parks, or grab your walking shoes and hit one of the 150 trails available for your strolling pleasure. With such great care taken in protecting and preserving the natural resources and habitats, you can easily stumble upon a sandhill crane, otter, or fawn as you enjoy the outdoors. Golf courses are also part of the open space, with 36 holes or private golf, and 18 holes of daily fee golf. Tennis courts are also plentiful, or perhaps you’d like to play a game of polo or cricket.

Lakewood Ranch also has many events and festivals. The majority of them are centered around the arts, like Music on Main. On the first Friday of every month, Music on Main takes place, with the possibility of swing music to rock and roll notes filling the air. There’s also Suncoast Food & Wine Festival, a fall favorite. This festival showcases hundreds of American to International wines and foods, cooking demos, live entertainment, and much more. It’s a great way to get out and taste the deliciousness of restaurants in the area, and enjoy a nice glass of wine or two. For art lovers, Art at the Ranch is a must. As one of the South’s premiere showcases for local, national, and international artists, Art at the Ranch benefits the ArtCenter Manatee. You will see everything from photography, jewelry, pottery, and all that’s in between.

Shopping is also abundant in Lakewood Ranch. With over 8 shopping districts, you’re bound to find what you’re looking for. From small boutiques and specialty clothing shops, to coffee shops, every angle is covered. Dining is the same, with a variety of restaurants offering any cuisine imaginable. Be it casual and family oriented, elegant and upscale, or international, you’re sure to find exactly what you’re craving.

Example of Spanish-style homeWith Lakewood Ranch being such a large community, it is comprised of many smaller villages within. One is Esplanade Golf and Country Club by Taylor Morrison, a company that was named #1 private builder in 2010 and 2011 by Builder magazine. The village sits on 600 acres in Lakewood Ranch, featuring gorgeous Mediterranean-inspired architecture, lush landscapes and serene lake surroundings. At the center of this Taylor Morrison jewel is the 18 hole golf course and clubhouse. It’s also close to Main Street and Sarasota’s beaches ensuring you won’t miss out on the fun.

Lakewood Ranch will surely leave you enchanted and never worried about a dull moment. With beautiful homes, an abundance of activity, and plenty of green space, it will be hard not to want to call this place home.
